About Jan Mankes: Bedtime Stories

Responding to the exhibition The Mankes Perspective about Jan Mankes at Museum voor Moderne Kunst Arnhem (Museum of Modern Art Arnhem), artist collective WijNomaden installed an exhibition at CBK Arnhem. We responded to his work and the period in which he lived.

Characteristic for Mankes’ works is his love for nature, that is expressed by a special attention to detail. He died of tuberculosis at the age of 30. What was he telling his son on his sickbed?
